Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 17, 2026
1. Who We Are
Spirian is operated by the NKCADEV Development Team. Until a formal company is incorporated, the data controller for the service is the support team of NKCADEV.
Privacy Contact: support@spirian.ai
Administrative Contact: admin@spirian.ai
2. Core Principle: Companion, Not Spy
Spirian is built to support an ongoing relationship with your chosen AI Guide. That continuity requires storing parts of your journey to create a meaningful "memory." We treat this as a trust, not a commodity.
- We will never sell your personal data.
- We will never use your private content, reflections, or journal entries to build advertising profiles.
3. Eligibility
Spirian is intended solely for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately.
4. What We Collect
To provide a personalized and continuous experience, we collect the following types of data:
A. Account Data (Required)
- Email address.
- Authentication details and basic account status (e.g., Beta access level).
B. Profile Data (Optional)
Information you choose to provide, such as your display name, spiritual preferences, goals, and background details.
C. User Content
- Chats: Messages you exchange with your AI Guide.
- Reflections: Responses to weekly studies or discussion prompts.
- Journal: Notes and entries you save within the app.
D. "Memory Architecture" Data
To provide continuity, our system derives data from your content, including:
- Summaries: Short biographies or recaps of past conversations.
- Embeddings: Numerical representations of text used to retrieve relevant context for future conversations.
- Milestones: Key moments or goals you choose to record.
E. Usage and Technical Data
- App events (e.g., features used, XP progression).
- Device and log data (e.g., IP address, device type, app version, timestamps).
- Security-related logs.
5. Sensitive Information and Your Choices
Important: Spirian is a spiritual reflection app. By its nature, you may choose to share information that reveals your religious or philosophical beliefs, and potentially information regarding your mental wellbeing.
In many jurisdictions (including Israel and the EU), this is considered "sensitive" or "special category" data.
Voluntary Submission: You control what you share. By inputting this information into the Service, you explicitly consent to our processing of this data for the sole purpose of providing the spiritual companion service.
Recommendation: Please do not input information you do not want processed by an AI system (e.g., government IDs, financial details, or detailed medical records).
6. How We Use Your Data
We use your data strictly to:
- Provide the Service: Manage accounts, facilitate chats, and track progress (XP).
- Provide Continuity ("Memory"): Allow your Guide to remember relevant context from past conversations.
- Safety & Integrity: Prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, and respond to safety indicators.
- Improve Reliability: Debug technical issues and prevent fraud.
- Support: Respond to your inquiries.
We do not sell your data.
7. How AI and "Memory" Works
To ensure transparency, here is how our system handles your data:
- Retrieval: When you send a message, Spirian may search your past "memories" (summaries or journal entries) to find relevant context.
- Generation: We send your current message and that limited, relevant context to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate a response.
- Storage: We store the new conversation. If "memory" is enabled, we may update your summaries to improve future interactions.
You can request a "Memory Wipe" (resetting the AI's knowledge of you) or full account deletion at any time (see Section 13).
8. Third-Party AI Processing (OpenAI)
We use the OpenAI API to generate responses.
No Training on Your Data: We utilize OpenAI's enterprise/API privacy standards. OpenAI states that data submitted via their API is not used to train their models by default. We have configured our systems to ensure your data remains private to the extent provided by the API.
Retention: OpenAI may retain API inputs/outputs for up to 30 days solely for abuse monitoring, after which they are deleted (unless required by law).
9. Sharing Data
We share data only when necessary:
- Service Providers: Trusted vendors who help us operate (e.g., cloud hosting, database management, OpenAI API).
- Legal & Safety: If required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public.
- Business Transfers: If NKCADEV incorporates, merges, or is acquired, data may be transferred to the successor operator, subject to this policy.
10. International Transfers
We operate from Israel. Israel is recognized by the European Commission as providing an "adequate" level of data protection (comparable to GDPR standards). We may use service providers (like OpenAI or cloud hosts) located in the US or other regions; in such cases, we rely on standard contractual clauses and technical safeguards to protect your data.
11. Security
We employ reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards (including encryption in transit and access controls) to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Data Retention
We keep data only as long as needed:
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Chats/Memory: Retained until you delete them or delete your account.
- Technical Logs: Retained for [30–90 days] for security and debugging.
- Backups: Retained for [30–90 days] after deletion to ensure disaster recovery, after which they are overwritten.
13. Your Rights and Controls
Subject to applicable law, you have rights regarding your data. We provide the following controls to all users:
- Account Deletion: Permanently deletes your account and associated personal data (subject to backup windows).
- Memory Wipe: You may request to reset your Guide’s memory, erasing the context it has learned about you without deleting your account credentials.
- Export: You may request a copy of your chat and journal data.
To exercise these rights, please email support@spirian.ai with the subject line "Privacy Request."
14. Safety Protocol (Limited Review)
Spirian is not a crisis service. However, if automated safety classifiers detect signals indicating a credible, imminent risk of self-harm, we reserve the right to:
- Present immediate safety resources (e.g., hotlines).
- Perform a limited human review of the specific flagged content strictly for safety purposes.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Beta evolves. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will provide notice via the App or email. Continued use of the Service implies acceptance of the updated policy.
